Shanghai Hi-Speed Loop Train

Professor Mahoney of East China Normal University: China's reform is like this speeding train

Professor Josef Gregory Mahoney Goes for a Loop

My relationship with Chinese trains dates back to 1998. It was my first time in China. I landed in Beijing and took one of those old, long, slow green trains. Since then, of course, we have seen a revolutionary change in train services in China.

This is my first time doing the Circle Train and I usually enjoy coming out and checking out these new developments. But more importantly, we can see that it will have a beneficial impact across the region and create more opportunities for people to do business in a smart and collaborative way.

As a result, the loop service enhances the cohesion of these areas in a more efficient way, and it also contributes to ecological health. This is a very positive development that will help the region move towards a new stage of development in the new era. One of the great achievements of China's reform and modernization is the development of the railway system, which has always been one of the key indicators of China's development and modernization. Of course, not only the development of high-speed rail, everything in China has accelerated in recent years, and there are many other exciting achievements, just like the Circle Line train. As reflected in the communiqué of the Third Plenum, deepening reform across the board means overcoming obstacles and continuing to take bold steps forward, which is exactly what we need right now.
